These books are perfect for getting kids excited to try new and different foods. I read the cheese book with my 4 year old and she wanted to try the different types of cheeses in the book.The books are a good size for small hands and have cute pictures. They are easy to wipe down if they get a little dirty in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend these books. Very cute.

This set is adorable and was a hit with both my toddler AND my 6-year-old. Each poem includes an anthropomorphized happy cute/kawaii-style version of the food and the poems themselves are nice, each page having a poem about a different type of that food, and ending with a summation poem about all of the foods in the book. "Cookies" is all quatrains (ABCB) while "Pasta" and "Cheese" are rhyming couplets (AA BB), so you can even talk about some basic poetry structure with your little ones. The box for the books actually seems pretty hardy unlike with a lot of these kind of book sets.The box indicates 0-4 age group, but my 6-year-old probably enjoyed it even more than my toddler (especially "Cookies")! The vocabulary in each of them can be a bit advanced, which makes it great to read with a school-aged child (for instance, cookies uses "divine", "dainty," "dandy", "legume," in addition to words in French (just like "Cheese" and "Pasta" use words in Italian), and has some non-standard examples of the foods ("Cookies" includes biscotti, meringue, macaron, and "rainbow" in addition to your more standard faves like chocolate chip). Really cute idea and very nice execution!

I got this book set for my two year old for Christmas. She is a foodie, but to be honest I also was enchanted by the idea of these books. Let me tell you, these were a hit! Really cute and I actually learned something - great for family gathering later to discuss without being an annoying and loud toy, too. I love hearing my daughter try to say all the names of the cookies and pastas, so cute!!I held off on buying this for awhile because the price seemed a little wild for 3 board books, but I am a fan. It was worth the cost and I think I'll be buying more as she grows up!
